CTFCU is a member-owned financial institution that provides personal banking services. Who can join CTFCU?

CTFCU’s field of membership includes anyone who lives, worships, regularly conducts business in or attends school in or is located in a contiguous portion of Middlesex County consisting of the following towns and cities: Bedford, Belmont, Burlington, Concord, Lexington, Lincoln, Medford, Melrose, North Reading, Reading, Stoneham, Tewksbury, Wakefield, Wilmington, Winchester, and Woburn.

What is the website address?


When is the conversion date?

The conversion date will be November 1, 2022.


When can I access Common Trust’s products/services and complete Financial Transactions?

On November 1, 2022, you will have access to all CTFCU products and services, and you will be able to complete all Financial Transactions at either branch.


Are my funds 100% insured at the Common Trust Federal Credit Union?

Yes, all share accounts will continue to be insured for up to $250,000 by the NCUA and all additional
monies over $250,000 are insured by MSIC.


Will the routing number change?

We will continue to process the Bedford VA FCU routing number, but please begin using the new Common Trust Federal CU routing number 211386953 as of November 1, 2022.


Will the office at Bedford VA Hospital remain open?

Yes, the office in Bedford will remain open the same hours and, in the future, we will look to expand the hours and number of days the office is open.


What is the minimum balance required in my share account?

You are required to maintain $15 in your share account.


Will I need to sign new signature cards?

No, you will not need to sign any signature cards.


Will my member (account) number change?

Since Bedford member numbers and CTFCU member numbers are both four digits (1234) we will be placing a 5 in front of all Bedford VA FCU member numbers.

As an example, if your Bedford VA member number is 1234 then your new CTFCU member number will be 51234 and if your current member number is two digits (12) your new member number will be 50012.


Will my share account suffix number change?

Yes, your member share suffix will now be suffix number 99.


What will happen to my Christmas Club account?

Your Christmas Club account will remain exactly as it is, the only change is the suffix number will now become a 25.


What should I do about my existing ACH automatic payments?

Right now, we expect that most automatic transactions (debits) will be converted automatically. If you receive a government payment, including Social Security, we will do our best to make sure it converts automatically.


What should I do with my existing direct deposit?

What if I want to set up a new direct deposit?

After November 1, 2022, just provide your employer with the CTFCU routing number and your new account number or you can ask, and we can provide you with a direct deposit form that you can provide to your employer.


How do I make deposits into my account?

There are a few ways you can make deposits into your account:

What will the interest rate be on my share account?

Your interest rate on your share account will become the current share rate that CTFCU offers. The current rate is 0.05%


How do I sign up for e-statements?

After November 1, 2022, you can sign up for e-statements by calling or coming into the branch.


How do I sign up for online banking?

After November 1, 2022, members can sign up for online banking by going to our website:, next you click on the yellow Login button in the top right corner.

Next, you will need to enroll in online banking using your CTFCU account number and the last 4 digits of your Social Security Number. Once you have logged in you will be required to create a unique username and password.


How do I reset my home banking password?

After November 1, 2022, members can reset their home banking password by clicking on the “Forgot Password” link or by calling the branch.


How do I sign up for bill pay?

After November 1, 2022, the bill payer can be accessed through your home banking account, once you have logged in.


How do I sign up for mobile banking?

Go to the App Store or Google Play and search Common Trust FCU, download the application, and use your online banking username and password to log in.


What kind of fees does CTFCU have?

Refer to CTFCU’s fee schedule, included in this package.


Is there a monthly maintenance fee?

Yes, CTFCU does charge a monthly maintenance fee of $2.00 but that fee can be waived if a member signs up for e-statements. Contact us to set you up for e-statements. Bedford VA FCU members will not be subject to this fee until January of 2023.


Is there a dormancy fee if I do not use my account?

Yes, CTFCU does charge a dormancy fee of $5.00 but only after a member has had no activity (interest deposits do not count) for 12 months. CTFCU will notify members after 11 months of inactivity of the impending fee.

Members can avoid the fee by completing a deposit or withdrawal every 12 months. Bedford VA FCU members will not be subject to this fee until January of 2023.


When will I still receive my statements?

Your final statement from Bedford VA FCU will be printed as of the close of business Friday, October 28, 2022, and include your account activity since your last statement date.

Your next statement and subsequent statements will be issued by CTFCU and be mailed on the last day of each month

We strongly recommend that you sign up for e-statements. With e-statements, you will be able to view your statements in home banking or mobile banking and you will receive an email once the statement is available for viewing.


What will happen to my existing loans?

There will be no changes to existing loans, the rate and term will remain the same.

Yes, you can continue to make your payments at the Bedford Office and as of November 1, 2022, you will also be able to make your loan payment at the Woburn office.


What should I do if I have automatic payments or automatic payroll deductions set up for my loan payments?

You will not need to do anything, your payments will automatically be transferred to your new loan number


Will I need to notify my insurance agent that my lender is changing for my auto loan?

Yes, you should update your insurance agent so they can forward the most updated insurance information to CTFCU.


How do I apply for a new loan?

Can I transfer funds between financial institutions?

Yes, members can set up an electronic transfer on their home banking account.
