Common Trust Federal Credit Union (CTFCU) is pleased to announce the donation of $250 to the James L. McKeown Boys and Girls Club of Woburn. The donation comes following CTFCU’s social media campaign that ran throughout September. CTFCU pledged to donate $1 to the Boys & Girls Club for each like on their social media pages. On Tuesday, James McCorkle, President and CEO of CTFCU, presented a check of $250 to Julie Gage, Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club of Woburn.
The Boys & Girls Club of Woburn opened a new facility last September. The facility offers a heated 6 lane swimming pool, game room, two regulation-sized basketball courts, teen center, two preschool classrooms and much more. Having fundraised $8.3 million of the $9.2 million project, $900,000 is still needed in funding for the facility’s mortgage.
“Every dollar counts,” said Gage. “We rely largely on donations since it costs only $25 a year for a student to be a member while it costs about $850 per child to run the program,” she added.
With the mission of helping kids reach their full potential, the facility hosts students from local elementary, middle, and high schools every day after school.
