Dear Valued Member,

We are writing to inform you about an important upcoming decision regarding the future of Lexington MA Federal Credit Union. Enclosed with this letter, you will find your voting ballot for the proposed merger between Lexington MA Federal Credit Union and Common Trust Federal Credit Union, located in Woburn, Massachusetts.

After thorough analysis and deliberation, our leadership and Board of Directors believe this merger is a strategic step forward to enhance the services we offer to you and all our members.

Why This Merger?

The decision to merge is driven by our commitment to growth, innovation, and member satisfaction. By joining forces with Common Trust FCU, we aim to achieve:

  • Financial Stability: Strengthened financial position, ensuring the long-term success of your credit union

  • Convenience: More branches and ATMs, making banking easier for our members

What You Need to Know

  • Your Voice Matters: You will be voting to approve the merger

  • Voting Process: You can cast your vote by returning to the branch or by mail using the enclosed ballot and return envelope provided by the credit union

    • Return to the credit union by October 20, 2025

  • Eligibility: Primary Members in good standing are eligible to vote. Joint signers who do not have a primary membership (account) with the credit union are not eligible to vote

  • If this merger is approved, what will happen to the existing office and staff? The office will remain open, and the same friendly staff you know will continue to serve you at the same location.

We want to assure you that your accounts, products, and services will remain secure throughout and after the merger process. There will be no disruptions to your membership rights or benefits. This merger is designed to bring added value and convenience to your banking experience.     • Merging Credit Union: Wellesley Municipal Employees FCU

    • Merger Date: August 31, 2025

    • New Services Available: Starting September 2, 2025

    • New Routing Number: Common Trust’s ABA # (211386953)

    • Access to New Branches: Two additional branches are available under Common Trust FCU

    Critical Dates “Timeline”

    • August 31, 2025: System merger takes place. All systems will be down during the conversion weekend.

    • August 29 - September 1, 2025: Services will be temporarily unavailable due to the conversion.

    • September 2, 2025: Merged services and products become available to all members.

    • Prior to August 31, 2025: Members will receive their new debit cards and checks.

    Wellesley Municipal Employees FCU Debit Card Transition

    As part of our merger with Common Trust Federal Credit Union, all WMEFCU debit cards will deactivate on Monday, August 25. New Common Trust FCU debit cards are being mailed and will replace your current card.

    Please note:

    • New cards cannot be activated until September 2

    • Your current WMEFCU card will not work after August 25

    • To avoid any activation issues, please contact the Wellesley branch to confirm that we have your correct primary phone number on file (this will be required when you activate your new card)

    FAQs

    • Will my account number change? Yes, your account number and suffixes will change. All members will be assigned a 6-digit member number. Depending on your current number, here’s how it may change:

      • If your current member number has 5 digits: A 6 will be added to the front
        (Ex: 12345 → 612345)

      • If your current member number has 4 digits: A 60 will be added to the front.
        (Ex: 1234 → 601234)

      • If your current member number has 3 digits: A 600 will be added to the front.
        (Ex: 123 → 600123)

      • If you already have a 6-digit member number that starts with a 6: No changes will be made to your number.

      • If your 6-digit member number starts with a number other than 6: The first digit will be replaced with a 6.
        (Ex: 987654 → 687654)

    • Will my current debit card still work? No, current debit cards will stop working at end of the day on August 24th. You will receive a new card and activation instructions before the conversion.

    • Will there be changes to my savings and checking accounts? Yes, the member number and suffixes for savings, checking, and club accounts will change. Checking account holders will receive new checks with updated account numbers.

    • What happens to my existing loans? Existing loans will not change. Loan payments will continue to be sent to the same address.

    • Will there be service interruptions during the merger? Yes, all systems will be down during the conversion weekend until the merger is complete.

    • How can I obtain my new login credentials? Instructions for new login credentials will be provided to members prior to the conversion.

    • Will the routing number change? Any authorized debit or credit that you already have set up then you don’t need to change them but as of September 1, 2025, any new ones that you set up you should use the new routing number (211386953).

    • Will fees change? Yes, members will now follow the Common Trust Fee Schedule, available at www.commontrustfcu.org/fee-schedule.

    • Will I need to update my automatic payments and payroll deductions? No, existing automatic payments and payroll deductions will continue as usual.

    • How do I contact the credit union if I have more questions? Members can reach out to either CEO at either credit union.

  • Important Dates

    Return voting ballot to the Lexington MA FCU Office by Monday, October 20, 2025.
